Safety on GLØW

GLØW was built specifically to be a safer alternative to social apps that allow harassment, unchecked ego comparison, and appearance-based bullying. Safety is not an afterthought. It is built into the core design of the product.

No direct messages. GLØW has a zero direct communication policy. There is no way for any user to send a message to another user within GLØW. This eliminates the most common vector for harassment and unwanted contact on social platforms.

No comments. There are no comment sections anywhere on GLØW. You cannot leave a comment on another user's photos or squad profile. This prevents pile-ons, hate comments, and the kind of public shaming that is common on other platforms.

No individual ratings shown. When you compete in a round you never see your individual score. You see your squad's result across categories. This is a deliberate design decision to protect your self-esteem and prevent the harmful dynamic of seeing a low numerical rating of your appearance.

Protected social handles. Your Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Discord usernames are hidden from everyone by default. They are only revealed when you explicitly enable social handle visibility in settings AND the other person has mutually followed you within GLØW. You can hide your handles at any time from Settings then Visibility.

Controlled social discovery. The follow system on GLØW is opt-in at every step. Nobody can access your social profile without your active consent through the mutual follow system.

Content moderation. Every photo uploaded to GLØW is automatically screened by Google Cloud Vision's SafeSearch system before it appears on the platform. Photos containing explicit nudity or sexual content are automatically rejected before they can be seen by any user.

Age verification. GLØW requires a date of birth on signup and does not permit users under 13. We are actively developing additional age verification features including facial recognition scanning which will be introduced in a future update.

Enable social handle visibility only when you are comfortable. You are never required to share your Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, or Discord with anyone on GLØW.

Only join squads with people you know and trust. GLØW is designed to be played with friends. Squad invite links are controlled by squad leaders.

Report anything that feels wrong. Use the report button on any profile or photo. Our team reviews all reports.

Block users who make you uncomfortable. Blocking prevents them from seeing your profile or appearing in your rounds.

For urgent safety concerns contact us immediately at safety@glowsquad.app. We take all reports seriously and respond to urgent matters as quickly as possible.

If you believe someone is impersonating you or has uploaded photos of you without your consent contact us at safety@glowsquad.app with as much detail as possible and we will remove the content and take action against the account promptly.

If you are in immediate danger please contact your local emergency services. GLØW is not an emergency response service.
